Despite the general weariness of dragonborn in the world, Ulsaruk’s family was an upper class one. He was raised with proper etiquette and trained from childhood to be a defender of justice, as his father had done. At 16, he joined the Brightwater city guard and quickly began progressing through their ranks. By the time he was 25, he had himself become Captain of the Guard.
This didn’t sit well with the Asterbrake Imperium. They didn’t want to see one of the most populous cities in their neighboring country have a dragonborn in a high rank. Thus they sent agents of the Gilgamesh Consortium to deal with the problem.
It happened when he was 31. He was patrolling the city late at night and he heard a scream from a back alley. He rushed toward the sound, but it was a trap. He was ambushed by group of shadow assassins. He battled them long into the night and as daybreak came, all of the assassin’s lay dead at his feet. He searched their bodies and found a letter on one of them, "Slay the dragon-beast that leads the troops of Brightwater. We need to make it clear what happens when ANYONE tries to let these filthy creatures have power. -Ilvaniar"
Ulsaruk did not want to risk the lives of others by staying on the guard, so he resigned and slipped into hiding, plotting how to destroy this Gilgamesh Consortium that set the bounty on him.
He emerged 2 years later, when Brightwater was attacked by foul creatures. He decided that the Gilgamesh Consortium must have had something to do with this and joined a group of adventurers in their quest to stop the madmen behind the attack.
